Senior Systems Engineer - Linux

As a Senior System Engineer at Church Community Builder you will work with a talented, agile, autonomous team to deliver an amazing infrastructure experience for our church partners and Software Engineers. In addition, you will be part of a team of individuals that not only know how to work together, but play together. If you have mad Nintendo, and/or Ping Pong skills (or you just like to play hard) but also build a mean LAMP stack, keep reading! 

Responsibilities

  • Build next level infrastructure with industry leading technologies
  • Focus on a responsive and fast software service chain
  • Design and engineer a reliable and resilient LAMP stack for delivering our application
  • Reduce and maintain MTBF, MTTR, latency, and load times

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 6+ years equivalent work experience
  • Bash scripting and task automation proficiency
  • Thorough working knowledge of Linux OS required (CLI, server installation, patching, selinux, iptables, logs, etc…)
  • Skilled in server hardware maintenance
  • Adept at MySQL server configurations and management
  • Skilled at virtualization technologies

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advanced AWS experience and knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of Apache and Nginx, including strengths/weaknesses of various configuration options and engines
  • Familiar with Postfix and how to best configure this email server for security, performance, and reliability; be comfortable configuring SPF records, DKIM, rDNS, feedback loops, and other sender reputation techniques
  • Be able to explain geographic redundancy and know what it takes to run, and design and implement, systems for disaster recovery and performance
  • PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python exposure
  • Well versed in the construction of and use of Ansible
